Complaining about a councillor

Complaining about a councillor
The Council works hard to encourages the highest standards of conduct and excellent ethical standards in local government. When district and parish councillors are elected they sign up to a code of conduct. For more information about this visit the Councillors' Code of Conduct page.

Making a complaint

If you want to complain about the conduct of a member of West Lancashire District Council or a member of one of our Parish Councils, you must complete a complaint form and submit it to the Standards Committee by writing to:

Gill Rowe, Council Secretary and Solicitor

West Lancashire District Council

52 Derby Street

Ormskirk

West Lancashire

L39 2DF

> Download a complaint form

> Download guidance notes for complaints

> Download the assessment procedure for complaints about councillors

What type of complaint does the Standard Committee deal with?

The Standards Committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a member. It will not deal with complaints about things that are not covered by the members’ code of conduct. If you make a complaint to the Standards Committee it must be about why you think a member has not followed the code of conduct.

Please visit the Standards Board’s website at www.standardsboard.gov.uk (external link) for further information.
