Join the Junior Rangers Club this summer
Young environmentalists can rely on nature to not get bored this
summer by signing up for this year’s Junior Rangers Club.
West Lancashire District Council runs the club, which is
completely free of charge, for youngsters to enjoy.
It is aimed at children aged 5 to 13 year olds (although under
8’s must be accompanied by an adult) and provides a varied and
exciting programme of activities relating to nature, conservation
and the environment.
This year’s summer programme has now been unveiled for when the
schools break-up for the summer. So children can go along to any of
the events at Beacon Country Park, Up Holland, every Monday,
Wednesday and Friday between 2pm and 4pm, starting from Wednesday
23 July through to Friday 29 August.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "Children who love the great outdoors will be able to enjoy
everything from finding mini beasts and pond dipping, to wildlife
and orienteering. It’s also a great way to take advantage of the
warm weather and learn all about nature. You never know, they may
decide they love it so much that they want to become a countryside
ranger when they are older. So hurry to book your place."
Booking is essential for each event as places are limited. To
book or for more information please contact the rangers on 01695
622794 or email beacon.park@westlancsdc.gov.uk.
