A summer of songs and sport at Coronation
Park
Summer holidays and weekends are about to get more interesting
in Coronation Park, Ormskirk.
Every weekend throughout the summer, Coronation Park will be
showcasing a wide range of musical talent. Saturday afternoons will
feature a range of musical genres and up and coming acts from the
local area. Plus, the Ormskirk Radio charity funday on Saturday 26
July from 11am to 4pm.
Sunday afternoons, however, will be more tranquil with
traditional Lancashire Brass Bands performing in the bandstand.
For those youngsters that enjoy something more energetic there
is the Summer Sports Fitness Programme. The sessions for 8 to 14
year olds will take place between 10am and 12pm on Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Saturdays between the 29 July and 31 August 2008. The
free sessions will be aimed at beginners and will feature a variety
of sports, such as football, volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee! There
will also be local sports and fitness coaches on hand to help
improve your general fitness.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, portfolio holder for Community Services and
Health, said: "Music in the park is a fantastic way to relax and
who better to provide it than talent from the local area! With the
line up of bands set to play through the summer ranging from soul
and blues to rock and folk there is bound to be something for
everyone to enjoy.
"The Summer Sports Fitness Programme in Coronation Park is an
ideal way to get youngsters involved in a variety of sports they
may have never tried before and gives them an opportunity to make
new friends and stay active during the summer holidays."
