Spend the summer holidays with Sports Development

School’s almost out for the summer but youngsters in Skelmersdale have plenty to look forward to during their summer holidays thanks to the District Council’s Sport Development Team.

They have organised a summer sport activity programme aimed at young people aged between 8 and 13. There will be the opportunity to play a wide variety of sports and games like football, basketball, dodgeball, kwik cricket and much more!

The free sessions are on at the kick about areas in Tanhouse, Digmoor and Little Digmoor every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, starting 28 July until 27 August. They run from 1pm to 3pm and then 4pm to 6pm.
Young people who attend at least one of the days each week will be eligible to go on exciting trip every Friday for a small charge.

If that wasn’t enough, Sports Development are also offering sports and activity sessions in a number of schools throughout the summer too. These sessions run from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 4pm and for a small charge the children attending will be able to go on a trip on Fridays.

From 28 July to 1 August they will be at Hillside Primary School and from 4 to 8 August they will be at Moorside Primary School. They will be at St John’s Primary School and Holland Moor Primary School from 11 to 15 August and at Little Digmoor Primary School and Woodlands Primary School from 18 to 22 August. For the final week, 26 to 29 August, they will be at St Francis of Assisi and Delphside Primary School. Children do not have to be a pupil at the schools to attend the sessions. Booking for theses sessions is essential and can be done by telephoning Sports Development on 01695 555570.

Sports Development have just produced a fantastic new booklet detailing how people can get involved. From the Life Matters GP referral scheme and the street sport project for young people between the ages of 8 and 19 to the West Lancs Wolves clubs for children with disabilities everyone can get involved.
