See inspiring artworks at
this year’s West Lancashire Open Exhibition
Breathtaking artworks created by
professionals and amateurs will be unveiled at the popular West
Lancashire Open Exhibition this weekend.
For the seventh year running, the
high-profile event will once again take place at the Chapel Gallery
in Ormskirk from 19 July until 10 September and gives visitors the
chance to see inspiring masterpieces from all over the country.
Hundreds of artists entered their
artwork for selection; covering a wide range of media including
painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, textiles
and mixed media.
Judges then had the difficult
decision of choosing the strongest collection of artworks to be
exhibited, resulting in a selection of imaginative, original
pieces, which reflect the impressive talents of the artists. The
artworks chosen cover a wide array of disciplines and are brought
together to ensure that this year’s exhibition is a great
success.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio
Holder for Community Services, said: "I’m confident that this
year’s inspiring display of works at the gallery will have
something for everyone and I would urge the people of West
Lancashire to come and see for themselves such a stunning
exhibition. We had a fantastic number of entries for the Open
Exhibition, which reflects the abundance of talent both locally and
across the country. They have all been of a very high standard and
it was hard for judges to choose the winners but all artists should
be congratulated for their efforts. They look fantastic on display
at the gallery.
"And I’m sure that after the
exhibition we will hear of many success stories as the event is a
great way to develop a career in the world of art."
The selection panel had the tough
job of choosing three artists who will each receive a cash prize
for their artwork. They selected the following people for their
particularly outstanding creations:
First Prize:
Daniel Smith, Woodside £800
Second Prize:
Errol Neill, Art Student £400

Chairman of West Lancashire
District Council, Cllr Cyril Ainscough, will present the prizes at

in the People’s Prize section. The winner will be given the
opportunity to showcase their work at the Chapel Gallery later in
the year and receive an exhibition fee of £150.
