Chapel Gallery launches holiday activity
programme
If you have a flare for the arts, make sure you pick up Chapel
Gallery’s brand new holiday activity programme and book a place on
one of the workshops!
Whether its art, music, drama or dance, there’s something for
everyone in this latest activity guide, which is aimed at 8 to 18
year olds.
The sessions start off in April to celebrate the late Easter
holidays for young people in West Lancashire and are at various
venues across the district.
On 15th April it’s Dancing Skeletons from 10am to 4pm at the
Rose Theatre, Edge Hill University, Ormskirk. Young people aged 8
to 16 can create their own skeleton puppet in the morning and then
perform an imaginative play with it in the afternoon, with the help
of the Outside In Theatre Company.
At the same venue on 17th April the theme is Carnival of Animals
from 10am to 4pm. Again 8 to 16 year olds will be able to design
their own mask and then create a performance using their mask to
transform them into their animal alter ego. These sessions cost
£8.50 each.
If music is more to your taste why not try some taster workshops
at the Engine Rooms, 14-16 Westgate, Skelmersdale, between 1pm and
3pm, which are aimed at 13 to 18 year olds.
Painting Words with Music is the first one on 15th April when
teenagers will be able to look at popular music across a wide range
of genres from rock and pop to hip-hop and then produce their own
piece of music to perform. Then on 17th April it’s Music Factory
time when participants will be able to create their own music using
instruments such as guitars, drums and keyboards. Music classes
cost £6 each session.
Dave Tilleray, Executive Manager for Community Services, said:
"We have listened to what young people like to do in their spare
time and have put together a new exciting programme of events
throughout the school holidays to ensure that they have lots of
activities to choose from. Make sure you pick up a copy of the
programme so that you don’t miss the chance to take part in one of
these creative workshops."
Throughout the year there are other activities planned such as
for the May half term, the summer holidays, joining the Saturday
Art Club for 8 to 16 year olds and a new family friendly activities
events programme soon to be launched for Chapel Gallery.
