Oscar-style business award for local
entrepreneur
A top technology company from West Lancashire has scooped an
Oscar-style business award for their achievements.
Virtue Technologies based in the Council’s flagship Investment
Centre, was named ‘New Business of the Year’ at Lancashire’s
crème-de-la-crème BIBA's (Be Inspired Business Awards).
The local company, headed up by Phil Lawson, beat off stiff
competition from hundreds of other bright business stars and
follows on from their other award last year when Phil won West
Lancashire District Council’s title of ‘Outstanding Business
Achievement 2007’.
Being named a winner once again is testimony to all the hard
work the team have put into the company and is also partly thanks
to the support from the Council’s Enterprising West Lancashire
Project.
Sales director Phil Lawson said: "It is a great honour to win
this award. It is nice to get recognition for the hard work put in
by everyone associated with Virtue. I would like to say a special
thanks to all the support we have had from Enterprising West
Lancashire and the excellent office facilities we have been lucky
enough to make use of at the Investment Centre."
Cllr Ian Grant, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Planning,
said: "When we gave Phil our own award in 2007 we could see that
his was a shining example of a successful business and how he has
achieved so much in such a short space of time. I’d delighted that
once again the company’s outstanding performance has been
recognised and that we have played a part in helping them along the
way. Congratulations to Phil and the team on their superb
achievement and contributing to the local economy."
