Burscough soon to have better park
facilities!
The second phase of works is about to start in Richmond
Park, Burscough to enhance the environment for children and
adults.
For safety reasons, from 27 April the park will be closed
for four weeks to finish off the scheme to improve the park’s
facilities.
It will include the demolition of the old changing rooms,
installation of a new drainage system to solve flooding problems
and the planting of new trees to replace those that have recently
been felled.
A CCTV camera will also be installed to increase safety
and security for users of the park.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services and Health, said: "We have already carried out the first
phase of the project to improve the park but decided to re-open it
for the Easter holidays so that the youngsters didn’t miss out.
With the children back at school we thought that now would be the
best time to finish off the works so that it will be open again in
time for the summer for the local community to enjoy better
facilities during the holidays."
The first phase of works was carried out successfully,
which included the felling of existing old and diseased
trees.
Once the rest of the project has been completed it will
improve the attractiveness of the park and complement the
existing park facilities.
