Mayor to visit construction firm that’s boosting the
economy
A construction and civil engineering firm is to be visited by
West Lancashire’s Mayor and top Council officials to congratulate
them for their success and for boosting the local economy.
Skelmersdale’s Construction Partnership UK (CPUK) recently
clinched four new contracts worth millions, which is not only
creating jobs but also indicates its not all bad news in the
construction industry.
They have won several major projects across the northwest and
have further schemes in the pipeline.
It is a major success for the firm who first moved to the
Council’s West Lancashire Investment Centre in April 2005. Over the
years they have built up their business and, despite the recession,
moved to their own brand new premises in Maple Court on White Moss
Business Park last summer.
Their story shows that there’s light at the end of the tunnel
for the construction sector and West Lancashire Borough Council is
keen to show their support for the work that they are doing. It is
also to show appreciation for the excellent work they carried out
when building the new car park at the Council’s West Lancashire
Investment Centre, which was delivered on time, to the
specification and within budget.
The Mayor Cllr Geoff Roberts and senior VIPs from the Council
will be given a tour of the site on Tuesday 11 August. They will
also find out about the exciting plans the business has in store
for the future.
Cllr Adrian Owens, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and
Estates, said: "It has been a continuing success story for CPUK and
I’m delighted that they have been able to secure a number of
contracts and buck the trend in what has been a decline in the
construction industry. They are playing a pivotal role in job
creation and boosting the economy and we are keen to show them how
much we appreciate and support the work that they do."
CPUK’s Managing Director Steve Burke said: "The contracts we
have sealed and started on site in recent weeks show that it is not
all doom and gloom in the construction sector. There are good,
solid projects going ahead in the northwest with more in the
pipeline.
"I’m pleased that the Council is clearly supporting us in the
work that we do; we started our operations in West Lancashire nine
years ago and as we expand we want to stay here. The recent
construction of our headquarters at White Moss Business Park
underlines our commitment to the area and the local economy- it’s
the ideal location for us."
