Summer fun 2009
guide
Stuck on ideas to keep the children entertained during the
summer holidays? Then why not check out our activities guide.
West Lancashire Borough Council and a number of other partners,
including Lancashire County Council and West Lancashire School
Sports Partnership, have produced a 2009 Summer Holiday Activities
booklet.
It’s packed full of exciting events and family activities for
all ages to enjoy so that young people have lots of things to do
during the break.
There’s everything from knitting, sports, arts and crafts,
cookery and computers to outdoor pursuits such as canoeing,
climbing and archery.
Numerous clubs are listed in the guide, as well as events that
are happening in popular venues such as parks, Chapel Gallery,
leisure centres and local schools, libraries and community
centres.
Councillor Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services, said: "The school summer holidays are here and, as we all
know, the children always seem excited for the first couple of
weeks but then will quickly get bored if they’ve nothing to do. The
good news is that help is at hand because this booklet has been
designed to help you decide what fun activities to try out to keep
the youngsters entertained. There are so many varied clubs and
events listed that you are guaranteed to find an activity to suit
you and your family. Make sure you pick up a copy today!"
The guide was given out to more than 70 schools across the
borough just before they broke up for the holidays. It is now
available to pick up in libraries, community centres, sports
centres, Council buildings and other public venues. It’s also
available to download from our Summer Fun pages or by contacting Emma Davies on
01695 585145.
