On the
move as part of drive to improve services!
A new move is ready for take-off, which West Lancashire’s taxi
trade needs to be aware of.
The Borough Council’s Licensing Team is about to relocate to
Skelmersdale as part of a drive to improve efficiencies and
increase value for money for its customers.
Normally the taxi trade would be able to pop into the offices at
Westec House in Derby Street, Ormskirk with their enquiries.
However, from 9 December these offices will close. Instead, drivers
will be able to go along to visit the team at their new location at
the Council’s Stanley Depot, Stanley Way, Skelmersdale, from 14
December.
Letters have gone out to the taxi trade and other interested
parties to notify them of the changes.
This latest move is part of a wider package of office reshuffles
within the Council to streamline services and bring teams closer
together.
The whole of Community Services, which looks after work such as
fly-tipping, health and safety, leisure, environmental health, dog
and pest control and licensing matters is moving to Stanley Depot
because a lot of their tasks involve working with their colleagues
in Street Scene who deal with issues such as refuse, recycling,
transport, street cleaning and grounds maintenance. Street Scene is
already based at the depot so this closer working means that they
can share information more quickly, thus improving the overall
customer experience.
Councillor Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services, said: "As an excellent Council, our aim is to make the
best use of resources to deliver the best possible services at the
lowest possible cost. Bringing Community Services and Street Scene
together under the same roof is a great move that will enhance
closer working relations and will improve efficiences within the
Council. Residents will ultimately benefit from the new
relocations. The only change is that taxi drivers will need to come
to Skelmersdale to visit our Licensing Team so we have made sure
that this trade know about the move."
