Weather conditions disrupt refuse
collections
Due to severe weather and dangerous road conditions, West
Lancashire Borough Council is experiencing some difficulties
carrying out the refuse and recycling collection services.
Every effort is being made to complete collections in a safe
manner, however some areas of the borough are proving very
difficult to access. As a result, we have deployed additional teams
to assist where possible.
Whilst we are pulling out all the stops to carry out these
services with minimal disruption to our residents, we cannot
guarantee that all collections will be made on the dedicated
collection day.
Councillor Ian Grant, Leader of the Council, said: "We are
assessing conditions hourly and deploying our staff where they can
be most productive, while working safely. We would ask for your
patience and consideration for our staff who are doing their best
out in very difficult working conditions as a result of the adverse
weather conditions that are out of our control."
The difficult weather conditions may also affect other Council
services, with delays in responses due to an increase in volumes of
calls for services.
Lancashire County Council who are the Highway Authority and
responsible for road gritting are being made aware of problem areas
in the borough as a result of telephone calls into the Borough
Council’s contact centre.
