Your West
Lancs online
A new interactive map service, giving
information about your home and local area, has been launched on
the West Lancs website www.westlancs.gov.uk
‘Your West Lancs’ enables people to put in a
postcode or street name to see their home on an interactive map,
and lists useful information related to their property such as:
- Dates of refuse and recycling collections
- Council Tax bands
- Planning applications relating to the property
- Details of their local councillors
‘Your West Lancs’ is the latest in a series of
improvements on the West Lancs Borough Council website which
enables people to access services online 24 hours a day, 365 days a
year, from the comfort of their own home. It’s convenient, easy and
quick.
The Council is encouraging people to go online
when they want to find Council information or request a service, as
it is cheaper for both residents and the Council. The new ‘Your
West Lancs’ service has been launched as part of this drive and is
one of a range of online service improvements. Other recent
developments include the ‘in pictures’ photo gallery and online
reporting for housing repairs.
Cllr David Westley, portfolio holder for
Finance and ICT, said: “We’re aiming to make the website the first
choice for local people when they want to contact us, so we’re
trying to make it better all the time.
“Your West Lancs’ is a fantastic new service
that enables you see your home on a map, and find all sorts of
useful information, just by inputting a postcode or address. Visit
www.westlancs.gov.uk and
try it for yourself.”
Cllr Westley added: “It’s cheaper for the
Council to provide information and services online and so by using
the website local residents can help keep Council Tax bills down
and free up funds for other front-line services. We’re working hard
to make savings and give value for money, so if possible, next time
go online – it’s six times cheaper.”
