Final stage of Ormskirk town centre review
Residents still have time to give their views about the Ormskirk
Town Centre Conservation Area, which is in the final stage of its
appraisal.
During the last 12 months, the town centre conservation area has
undergone a complete review, the idea behind it being to preserve
the town centre’s special qualities. Now, a draft version of the
appraisal has been produced for residents to comment on.
Organised by West Lancashire District Council, the draft
document will reveal the findings of the review and set out
recommendations for the town centre’s future. Residents are invited
to read the draft document and send their opinions to the Council’s
Heritage and Environment team. The deadline for final comments is
the 20 February 2009.
Cllr Martin Forshaw, Portfolio Holder for Planning and
Transportation, said, "In December, we had a great response to the
public exhibition about the conservation area and received many
completed questionnaires from residents. The council would like to
thank all residents involved in the consultation process as they
have shown how local opinion can influence the direction of council
strategy.
"We hope residents will take the time to read the draft document
and send in their views about the conservation area, which could
affect the final version."
Residents can read a copy of the draft at all local libraries
and customer service points in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale. The draft
is also available to download when you visit our Heritage section. For
further information please call 01695 585167.
The document has been sent to local interest groups, the
Business Forum, Market Traders Association and other stakeholder
groups involved in the previous consultation stages.
Comments can be sent email to ian.bond@westlancsdc.gov.uk
or by letter to Heritage & Environment, 52 Derby Street,
Ormskirk, Lancashire, L39 2DF.
