A new events programme has been released featuring a whole series of great activities at Coronation Park for 2009.

Why not make it your New Year’s resolution to spend more time at Ormskirk’s favourite park? Whether you’re looking for a new hobby, want to be more active or just enjoy the great outdoors, there’s plenty going on this year!

With free events for all ages, from bird box building, live music, astronomy evenings and photography sessions, you can enjoy the splendour of Coronation Park.

Produced by West Lancashire District Council, the programme is bursting with information about a wide range of events to take part in. For instance, keen gardeners or people who want to learn can become a ‘Friend of the Park’ and join in our frequent conservation events.

Upcoming events are:

  • RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch - Sat 24 and Sun 25 January, 2.00pm
  • Bird Feeders Event - Wed 18 February, 2.00pm
  • Bird Box Building - Sat 21 February, 2.00pm

Cllr, Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services said, “During 2009, there will be a series of free events for all people at Coronation Park. It’s great way to get the family together, you can even save money and have fun during group activities. Also, you can listen to live music at the bandstand throughout the year, which is available for performers to hire.

“For children we have wildlife events like mini-beast safari, brilliant butterflies and bird feeding. Other fun activities include kite flying and conker competitions. During the summer we will be hosting a series of sports days to keep children active – so make sure you pick up a copy!”

You can pick up the programme from many places in West Lancashire, such as your local supermarkets, libraries, tourist information centres, hospitals, doctors, swimming pools, hotels, leisure centres and villages halls. Ask for one next time you’re out and about!

The events programme is also available to download on our Coronation Park page. For more information contact Chris Horsfall on 01695 585147.
