Rural villages set for a performance treat
Residents who live in remote villages in West Lancashire won’t
have to travel far to enjoy the arts, thanks to the ‘Spot On’
spring programme.
A series of performances will be taking place at out-of-town
venues in the area with a variety of entertaining events to suit
all tastes.
The planned programme is part of Lancashire’s Rural Touring
Network, which enables residents who live in rural areas to see
live professional productions on their doorsteps.
It is supported by West Lancashire District Council and has a
membership of five community venues, mostly village halls, who
collectively promote a lively and diverse programme of events each
year.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "This initiative ensures that residents who live away from
all the town centre action can still enjoy a bit of drama! As we
all know, a lot of arts events are centred around towns so ‘Spot
On’ is a good way of giving people who live in rural areas the
chance to access the arts on their own doorstep."
