Use your imagination to celebrate the Big Draw’s 10th
birthday
Experiment with your creative side and join us for the Big
Draw’s 10th birthday celebrations.
Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk will be joining hundreds of
galleries, museums, art venues and clubs across the country on
Saturday 10 October for the Big Draw day, where people of all ages
and abilities can have a go at drawing!
It’s the biggest free drawing event of the year and two family
friendly events are planned in West Lancashire with the theme
‘Imaginary Landscapes’.
Youngsters and adults can work with professional artist Matthew
Roby to create a large-scale landscape across the whole of one wall
in Chapel Gallery’s workshop rooms. Participants will be able to
fill the blank space with incredible buildings, amazing animals and
weird and wonderful characters to create a unique environment. Drop
in sessions at Chapel Gallery are from 10am to 12noon and then at
1pm to 4pm.
Participants are also invited to the Concourse Shopping Centre
in Skelmersdale on 26 and 28 October from 10am to 12noon and then
at 1pm to 4pm. where artist Sarah Jane Richards will be working
with young people to create an amazing imaginary landscape, an
artwork created using all kinds of mark making and drawing
skills
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "This fun annual event aims to promote the traditional skills
of drawing and as it celebrates its 10th year I’m sure it will be
even more popular than usual. One of the nicest things about the
Big Draw is that we get to see a range of innovative creations that
really stretch the imagination and are fun to watch develop.
Drawing is a great way to really express yourself and is a
challenge too, so I’m sure we’ll have lots of people come along to
the free workshops. Make sure you put your name down to get
drawing!"
