Look after your canine
Be a responsible dog owner and take your pet to have a health
check and microchip at a special event in Skelmersdale.
Why not take your canine along to Digmoor Community Centre,
Birleywood, Skelmersdale on Wednesday 21 October, between 10am and
5pm, where you will find the answers to lots of dog-related
matters.
This event has been organised by West Lancashire Borough
Council, the P.D.S.A and the Dogs Trust, who will all be on hand to
provide advice on dog care and welfare. Many problems related to
dogs, including straying, fouling, aggression and welfare can be
caused by a lack of knowledge and/or understanding by dog owners.
The objective of the day is to help dog owners understand their
responsibilities and so prevent future dog-related problems.
The Dogs Trust will provide a dog microchip service between
12noon and 4pm for a nominal fee of £5. There will also be free
doggy health checks from the P.D.S.A.
Councillor Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services and Health, said: "Micro chipping your pet really is the
best way to ensure that your animal has the best chance of being
safely returned if it becomes lost or is stolen. So I would
encourage all dog owners to come along to this event to help
safeguard their dogs and learn all about canine care."
