New facelift for Burscough car
park
A Burscough car park has been given a smart
new look by West Lancashire Borough Council in time for the
beginning of the new school term.
Colbourne Close Car Park, which was in a poor
state of repair, has been given an £11,000 revamp making it safer
and smarter. Most of the funding was obtained through the
Planning & Development framework from developer
contributions through a Section 106 Agreement.
The car park has been given a new asphalt
surface, in addition to kerb stones being replaced, drains
cleaned out and parking bays marked clearly with painted white
lines. Also, the surrounding fences have been smartened up and
the borders have been tidied.
The car park is used by parents who drop off
and pick up children attending the nearby Colbourne Close and St
John’s schools, as well as by the residents of Stanley Court.
Cllr Adrian Owens, portfolio holder for
regeneration, said: “We were approached by some local residents and
asked to assist because the car park was in a poor state of repair
and I’m delighted that West Lancashire Borough Council has been
able to help out. The support of the Burscough councillors
themselves, who highlighted the issue to us, has also been very
important. This isn’t a major scheme in terms of time or money but
it’s an important one that will make a big difference to local
residents in this part of Burscough.”
