What will your perspective be on new exhibition
programme
What will your ‘perspective’ be on a new exhibition at Chapel
Gallery - a show that looks at representations of architectural
space in contemporary art.
Called ‘Unique Perspectives’ this collection of works from 13
different artists explores the different ways that people look at
their surroundings.
Running from 19 September to 31 October, it’s a chance for
visitors to see the variety of ways in which artists use
perspective to add dynamism and create distortions within their
pieces. Works include those that manipulate and explore
unconventional viewpoints, while others experiment with spatial
awareness.
Councillor Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services, said: "This is an exhibition that makes the familiar seem
unfamiliar and challenges our perception of the environment that we
live in. So make sure you pay the gallery a visit to see this
unique collection of work, which is free to view. While there, you
can also pick up a copy of the gallery’s new exhibition programme
or download it from our website www.westlancs.gov.uk/chapelgallery."
This latest exhibition kick-starts the new events programme for
Chapel Gallery, which, as usual, offers visitors an exciting mix of
stimulating and innovative exhibitions throughout the year. Anyone
interested in art and contemporary craft should pick up a copy
because they won’t want to miss the inspiring selection of works,
showcases and activities that are happening from now through to
June 2010.
It incorporates everything from traditional media such as
painting and drawing, through to animation, installation and
contemporary crafts. There are also some fantastic events listed,
including creating your own imaginary landscapes as well as the
popular Christmas event.
A day at the gallery is a great way to enjoy a little quiet time
contemplating the artworks, or perhaps you and your family could
get creative by participating in the activities on offer. It’s
always free entrance, which is great in times of recession, and
there are free activities for young people to accompany each
exhibition.
You can visit the gallery off St Helens Road, free, anytime from
10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday. The café is open from 10am to
4pm.
