Our vision and priorities
Our vision
Putting our customers at the forefront of everything we do
remains our number one priority. This is why we've made a promise
to put customer services first and to build a community second to
none.
As an excellent Council our aim is to strive for even further
improvement to deliver the excellent services West Lancashire
deserves.
We are already on the way to achieving this vision. We have made
rapid improvements to our housing stock, we have spearheaded
initiatives to reduce crime and the fear of crime, made
improvements to street cleaning, refuse and recycling collections
and have created more employment opportunities for local people. We
have also enhanced leisure provision and have created more
convenient ways for residents to contact the council.
Over the next 12 months we have lots of exciting plans to ensure
that we continue to meet the aspirations and needs of our community
whilst providing value for money.
Our priorities
We have an agreed set of priorities. These priorities form the
overarching strategic framework for West Lancashire District
Council. All of the work undertaken by the authority is with the
ultimate aim of achieving these goals.
We form our priorities by considering a number of issues,
including finding out the needs of residents through the People's Panel.
Our priorities are:
- protecting and improving street scene and the environment
- combating crime and the fear of crime
- working to create and retain good quality jobs for local
people
- improving housing and ensuring that there is affordable housing
available for local people
- delivering cost-effective services that delight the customer
and are accessible to all
- providing opportunities for leisure and culture that contribute
to healthier communities.
How we deliver our priorities
We will deliver our priorities by being an ambitious
organisation and through applying our values of:
- putting customers and frontline services first
- listening to, informing and consulting local people
- being open and accountable in the way we make decisions
- embracing innovation and partnership as a way of bringing about
step change improvement in our services
- promoting equality of opportunity and valuing the diversity of
our communities
- valuing and developing our employees
- ensuring local services offer the best possible value
