West Lancashire District Council

Sewer baiting

Sewer baiting

To proactively control rat populations in the District, the Council undertakes a wide ranging sewer baiting programme.

This programme is conducted with part funding from United Utilities and aims to reduce rodent populations throughout the District. Data collected from rodent complaints, as well as information from previous sewer baiting programmes, ensure that treatments are targeted at those areas where most activity is experienced.

The Council's sewer baiting programme has seen rodent activity within the waste water system decrease by 12% since 2003.
