Some repairs are more urgent than others. To
make sure that the most important ones are done first, the council
have grouped together those repairs that are most important.
Emergency and urgent repairs that are most
important, followed by routine repairs and those which are least
important - planned repairs. The council aims to carry out the
repairs in each of these groups within a certain time, these groups
have been called 'priorities'.
Emergency repairs
Emergencies will be responded to on the same day that they have
been reported. These are repairs that are a danger to health or
safety, or those that may cause serious damage to the property.
Examples include a serious electrical fault or a major water
leak.
Urgent repairs
These will be carried out within seven working days from the
order being given to the contractor as long as you allow us to
access your home. These are repairs that could affect your comfort
or convenience. Examples include a broken tap or light.
Routine repairs
These repairs will be carried out within 20 working days from
the order being given to the contractor as long as you allow us to
access your home. These are repairs that do no affect your health
and safety, such as a door closer not working or a noisy ball valve
in your toilet.
Long-term planned repairs
We plan to do work that doesn't fit into the other categories as
part of a long-term programme, as this is the most efficient way to
work. Examples include repairing fencing, gutter clearing, loft
insulation, replacement cladding and brickwork pointing.
