Whatever the issue under discussion, we want to
make sure that the needs, wishes and preferences of older people
are fully taken into account.
To achieve this - and ensure that older people
are at the heart of our council’s activity - we have appointed an
Older People’s Champion.
The role of the champion is to advise the
council on issues that support and encourage active, independent
and healthy lives for older people. They will also work to raise
the profile of older people and their needs in all areas of council
activity.
Cllr May Blake has been selected as the first
Older People’s Champion.
She commented: “It will be my aim to serve the
older people of West Lancs wisely and well. As an older person
myself, I will be particularly keen to promote positive images in
order to combat stereotyping and age discrimination.”
