We have been officially rated as "excellent" and
we strive to be a flagship district council, not only
satisfying customers, but delighting them.
Our vision is: putting customer services first - building a
community second to none. We put customers and frontline services
at the top of our priority list to ensure that residents receive
high quality services.
We have six priorities:

- Delivering cost-effective services that will delight the
customer

Some of our recent achievements include:
- Rated "Excellent" in the 2005 Customer Access and Focus
inspection
- Our website was rated best district council website in
the UK in 2007
- We have held Investor in People status for 10 years
- We have won awards from Local Government Chronicle and the
Municipal Journal

The Council recognises that people are key to achieving our
objectives. We have 765 employees, operating throughout nine
Divisions and we know that they are our most important asset,
placing great emphasis on recruiting, training and
developing.
