Stretching from Ormskirk to Rainford, Bickerstaffe is an
agricultural area with the accent on arable farming. In addition to
Bickerstaffe village itself, the hamlets of Barrow Nook and Royal
Oak lie within the parish which retains its rural character. At
Graveyard Farm is a Quaker burial ground and it is thought that
George Fox founded the Society of Friends in this parish.
