The council has worked with partners to establish a Multi-Agency
Problem Solving Team based in Ormskirk Police Station.
Council officers work side by side with officers from the Police,
Fire and Rescue and other agencies to jointly develop strategies
and solutions to tackle crime and disorder locally.
Anti social behaviour
MAPS team deals with issues of anti social behaviour practically
and at a local level. They co-ordinate initiatives to reduce and
tackle anti social behaviour, and put positive interventions in
place to stop anti social behaviour before it happens
Priority and prolific offenders scheme
The PPO scheme is a national initiative set up to reduce
offending behaviour. The scheme is made up of three strands, which
are:
1. Prevent and deter
2. Catch and convict
3. Resettle and rehabilitate
The MAPS team works through the three strands to encourage
nominated PPO targets to change their behaviour. They are supported
in this process by the multi-agency partnership.
