To help you find your feet and get the most of what West Lancashire has to offer, we've put together a list of local facilities including NHS services, schools and colleges, leisure and sports facilities plus much more..

 

Local facilities

  • Community centres: a list of local community centres, meeting rooms and halls for hire.
  • Childcare (external link): Lancashire Childcare Information Service provides impartial information and guidance on childcare services, resources and issues in the area - whether you are looking for a childminder to drop-off or collect your child from your local school, a nursery catering for special needs or dietary requirements, details of fees or opening hours. 
  • Internet access: you can get free internet access at any library in West Lancashire through the People's Network. Free internet access is also available in our four community centres in Skelmersdale. Please note that you may have to book in advance to get access at libraries and community centres. You can also visit Cable (external link), an Ofcom approved independent organisation who can help to find the best internet, TV and phone deals in the area.
  • Libraries: find your local library.
  • Parks and playgrounds: for info about the area's parks, playgrounds, skate parks and games areas. 
  • Public toilets: a list of public toilets in the district.
  • Education and learning: for information about local schools, colleges and adult education opportunities.
  • Leisure and tourism: for info about the area's sports centres, swimming pools, places of interest and countryside ranger service.
