Planning appeals

Planning and enforcement appeals

Appeals against planning applications

Following a decision of approval, if you find any conditions unreasonable or unacceptable, you can lodge an appeal or submit an application to have them altered or removed.  If your application is refused, you can lodge an appeal within 6 months from the date of the refusal. Only the person who made the application for planning permission can appeal.

Appeals against enforcement notices

If you are served with an enforcement notice that you find unreasonable or unacceptable, you can lodge an appeal against it.

General information

Appeals are lodged with the Planning Inspectorate (external link) and not with West Lancashire District Council. You can submit your appeal to them online.  Appeals are considered by a Planning Inspector and most are conducted through writing although some are decided by a hearing or public inquiry.
