The Council has received the following information in support of
the Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, planning application
2011/0504/FUL:
Development overview video
Paramics validation videos and report
A Paramics assessment undertaken by Savell,
Bird & Axon has been submitted with the application.
A Paramics assessment, in essence, models
traffic data to give a visual impression of the highway network in
operational terms; both in terms of existing scenarios and proposed
scenarios (i.e. in light of proposed development).
There are four modelling files; the first two
show baseline scenarios of the current operation of the existing St
Helens Road signalised junction; the second two sets of files show
the future (2020) operation of the existing and proposed site
access junction during the morning and peak periods.
The modelling shows the future year operation
of the network operating better in 2020 with the construction of
the new junction that the existing junction does now. The
purpose of the models is to demonstrate the benefits that the
additional junction will bring, particularly to those without a
traffic engineering background. For instance, the model shows
that currently in the morning (AM) queuing starts to increase along
St Helens Road from 8.30am as right turning traffic block straight
ahead traffic. This disappears once the new junction is
constructed.

A Local Model Validation Report (LMVR)
detailing S-Paramics micro-simulation modelling work has been
carried out in support of the planning application
for the proposed extension to the University. The report
accompanies the the micro-simulation videos.
