Making your application

Where planning permission is needed, you will need to make a formal planning application to the Council. You can make a planning application online through the Planning Portal site.

To submit an application by post, download the application form and send it together with the required information and fee to the Council at West Lancashire Borough Council, Planning Division, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk L39 2DF.

You can bring the application and fee in person to the offices but these should be placed in a sealed envelope and deposited with the Customer Services reception.  We are unable to provide a receipt for the fee at the reception point but one will be provided after the application has been registered.

If you wish you can pay for an application online using our website or pay using your credit or debit card by contacting the Planning Support Team.

Where an application is for 10 or more dwellings there is a national standard - Building for Life - for well designed homes.
